Amanda Jones-Layman, PhD

Assistant Professor

Qualitative Researcher

Hello and welcome to my web site!

My research focuses broadly on institutional change efforts in education including community-school partnerships; teacher professionalization; politics of school reform; and discourse communities.

Since 2022, I have served as Assistant Professor of Education at Neumann University, where I teach courses on research, academic writing, and serve as the qualitative methodologist on doctoral dissertation committees. I also serve as the Co-Chair of the Institutional Review Board and Editorial Board Chair for the Catalyst: Journal of Student Academic Research.

I am Affiliated Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education where I teach courses in the Urban Teacher Residency Program, Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, and the M.S.Ed. in Education Entrepreneurship.

As an Associate Researcher with the Center on Assets, Education, and Inclusion at the University of Michigan, I am currently collaborating on several projects related to social policies, such as Child Development Accounts and Guaranteed Income as they intersect with parents’ future educational aspirations and expectations for their children.
